Violinist Donna Fairbanks is Chair of the Department of Music at Utah Valley University, where she is an Associate Professor, Coordinator of the String Area, and Member of the Aurora Duo. She maintains an active concert schedule, appearing as a soloist and chamber artist. She has soloed with the Charleston Symphony, Utah Symphony, Orquestra Sinfônica de Londrina in Brazil, Utah Valley Symphony, Utah Valley University Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, Eastern Arizona College Orchestra, and Sun Valley Festival Orchestra. Notable chamber and recital venues include the YouHao Art Center in Beijing, China; Whittemore-Robbins House in Arlington, Massachusetts; Universidad de Córdoba and Conservatorio Superior de Música Rafael Orozco in Córdoba, Spain; Universidad de Valladolid in Segovia, Spain; Shanxi University in Taiyuan, China; Huazhong Normal University in Wuhan, China; National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC; Rotterdam Conservatory in the Netherlands; Schumann in Zwickau Festival in Germany; Hungarian National Gallery in Budapest; Ghent Festival in Belgium; Hagibor Center in Prague; and Nanjing Normal University in China. As a member of the Aurora Duo with harpist Lysa Rytting, her recordings include Melodie (MSR Classics), and The Aurora Duo (4TAY Records). She received a Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance from the University of Arizona, a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music, a Bachelor of Music from Brigham Young University, with additional studies at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Missouri–Kansas City. Her teachers include Zvi Zeitlin, Varujan Kojian, William Harroutonian, Tiberius Klausner, Percy Kalt, and John Ferrell with chamber coaching from members of the Cleveland Quartet and legendary violist William Primrose.
